Afterguard is…
A slightly sweet «ointment type» canker sore treatment. It has excellent adhesion to the oral mucosa and protects against stomatitis.
Triamcinolone acetonide, which has anti-inflammatory properties, calms the inflammation in the affected area and improves stomatitis.
What is «stomatitis (aphthous)»?
It is a general term for inflammation in which one to several shallow small ulcers (less than 10 mm in diameter) are formed on the inside of the cheeks, tongue, back of the lips, etc., with reddish surroundings and whitish circular pain with a shallow depression in the center. The cause is not clear, but stress, fatigue, or unbalanced nutritional intake are said to be involved.

Contains gelled hydrocarbon, carmellose Na, saccharin Na, and fragrance as additives.
Usage and dosage
[Dosage/Dosage]
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area once to several times a day.
[How to use]
1. Wash your hands often and keep your fingertips clean.
2. Rinse and clean your mouth.
3. Wipe away moisture and saliva around the affected area by applying gentle pressure with tissue paper or gauze.
(Please note that if the affected area is too dry, the ointment will be difficult to apply)
4. When opening the tube for the first time, use the pointy end on the other side of the cap.
Wipe the moisture and saliva from your fingertips with tissue paper or gauze, and take an amount from the tube onto your fingertips, just enough to cover the affected area.
5. Look in the mirror and apply it to cover the affected area. After applying it, avoid touching it with your tongue and refrain from eating or drinking anything for a while. (It is best to apply it after meals or before going to bed.)
6. After wiping off any ointment that has adhered to the mouth of the tube or its surroundings with tissue paper or gauze, tightly close the cap. (The ointment may harden due to moisture)
[Precautions regarding usage and dosage]
(1) Please strictly follow the prescribed usage and dosage.
(2) When allowing children to use this product, please use it under the guidance and supervision of their guardians.
(3) This agent should only be used for the oral cavity, and should not be used for anything other than the oral cavity.
(4) When the pain subsides, please stop using it.
(5) Please avoid eating and drinking for a while after use.
(6) Do not use for purposes other than treatment, such as bonding dentures.

Usage precautions
1. Do not use the following persons
(1) People suspected of having infectious stomatitis. (Please consult your doctor, dentist, pharmacist, or registered seller)
●People whose vitiligo has spread throughout the oral cavity, which can be easily removed by rubbing with gauze. (Candida infection is suspected)
●People who have yellow pus in the affected area. (Bacterial infection is suspected)
●Persons who have numerous rice grain-sized to adzuki bean-sized vesicles in the oral cavity, or who have blisters or rashes on the lips and skin other than the oral mucosa. (Viral infection is suspected)
●Persons who have systemic symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, general malaise, and swollen lymph nodes. (Viral infection is suspected)
(2) People with oral infection. (There have been reports that the use of steroids has worsened infections, so please do not use them if you have oral infections such as alveolar pyorrhea or gingivitis.)
(3) People who do not see improvement in symptoms even after using it for 5 days.
(4) People whose symptoms worsen after using the product for 1 to 2 days.

(1) Persons receiving treatment from a doctor or dentist.
(2) People who have had allergic symptoms due to medicines, etc.
(3) Pregnant women or people who appear to be pregnant.

If the following symptoms appear after use

In the oral cavity: Vitiligo (suspected to be a candida infection), yellow pus in the affected area (suspected to be a bacterial infection), abnormal taste, numbness
Other: Allergy symptoms (rash/redness, itching, edema, etc.)
3. If the following symptoms appear after using this drug, you may have stomatitis caused by an infectious disease or another disease, so please stop using it and consult your doctor, dentist, pharmacist, or registered salesperson.
Fever, loss of appetite, general malaise, swollen lymph nodes, blisters (other than in the oral cavity), rash/redness, itching, widespread spread of the affected area in the oral cavity, eye pain, blurred vision, vulvar ulcer
Precautions for storage and handling
(1) Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
(2) Please keep out of reach of children.
(3) Do not transfer to another container. (This may cause misuse or change in quality.)
(4) Do not use products whose expiration date has passed.
(5) After use, wipe off any ointment that adheres to the mouth of the tube or its surroundings, then tightly close the cap and store. (The attached ointment may harden due to the influence of moisture.)

・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
・If you are a patient with aspirin-induced asthma, or have a history of aspirin-induced asthma.
・If you have a history of hypersensitivity to tiaprofenic acid, suprofen, fenofibrate, or products containing oxybenzone or octocrylene (sunscreen, fragrance, etc.).
・If you have a history with photosensitivity reaction.
・If you are a patient with bronchial asthma.
・If you are under the age of 20 (If you have many opportunities to be exposed to sunlight such as outdoor activities, etc.).
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
・Shield the application site from sunlight with colored clothes or supporters during application and for the time being after use, since this medicine may cause photosensitivity (a rash developed at the site exposed to sunlight).
