This medicine is an anticholinergic agent which has an antispasmodic effect and inhibitory effects on gastrointestinal motility, gastric juice secretion and increased intravesical pressure. These actions provide the relief from pain due to muscle spasm and excessive tension in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract and bladder.
It is usually used to treat convulsion and hypermobility in spasms and hypermotility due to gastric or duodenal ulcer, esophageal or pyloric spasm, gastritis, enteritis, intestinal colic, spastic constipation, functional diarrhea, cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis, biliary dyskinesia, sequela of cholecystectomy, urinary calculus, cystitis and dysmenorrhea.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include thirst/dry mouth, constipation, optical accommodation disorder (focus disorder), heart pounding, flatulence (abdominal distension), rash, hives, erythema and itch. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, one to two tablets (10 to 20 mg of scopolamine butylbromide) are orally administered three to five times daily. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient’s age and severity of symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

The following patients may need to be careful when using
this medicine.

Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist.

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
    If you have hemorrhagic colitis (bacterial diarrhea), glaucoma, urination disorder due to prostatic hypertrophy, heart disease, paralytic ileus, or hyperthyroidism.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Precautions while taking this medicine
・Shield the application site from sunlight with colored clothes or supporters during application and for the time being after use, since this medicine may cause photosensitivity (a rash developed at the site exposed to sunlight).
